Drew Read Speaks on Risky Teen Behavior at Christ Episcopal Church

Drew Read, a counselor and author, will speak on teen high-risk behavior, including substance abuse, this Thursday, January 19th at Christ Episcopal Church in the contemporary worship room.

Drew ran the Paul Anderson Youth Home for 20+ years in Vidalia, GA. PAYH gives boys (ages 16-20) an opportunity to begin again after committing a crime (drug possession, theft, etc). The boys live at the home for 1-3 years, finish high school there and learn all the skills needed to go on and have productive, happy lives. Their success rate is in the 90th percentile.

Karyn Carroll, one of the speaker series organizers, knows Drew personally.

Drew Read to speak at Christ Episcopal Church

“He is a wealth of knowledge on all things teen,” says Carroll. “He has observed patterns from his many years working with these kids and will share statistics, as well as advice on raising kids in our current environment.”

“There will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions anonymously,” says Carroll. “The program is for all parents, not just parents of teens. As a community we can help one another through the struggles of raising kids.”

A Reception will be held at 6:30pm in the Contemporary Worship Space. Drew will speak at 7pm with a Q&A to follow.

Christ Episcopal Church is investing in families through their Family Connection Speaker Series. If you would like to attend this Thursday’s program, please RSVP.
